Khatsahlano Festival – Saturday July 21st, 2013

What Is Khatsahlano?

Khatsahlano! Music + Art Festival is Vancouver’s biggest FREE outdoor music event!

This year’s festival will feature TWELVE stages showcasing more than 50 of Vancouver’s top musical performers – a veritable who’s who of hot indie acts – plus eclectic pods of distinctive local artisans, street performers and a host of other festivities.

Local merchants turn Kitsilano’s legendary West 4th Avenue into a gigantic, 10-block street fair with a wide variety of food options, bustling patios, giveaways and special activities. Stroll down West 4th Avenue from Burrard to MacDonald and you will be captivated by the electric energy of the festival, the friendly Kits atmosphere and cool entertainment.

Hailed a success by local media and attendees alike, last year saw over 80,000 people swarm West 4th to enjoy the day-long festivities. Firmly anchored into the summer calendar, 2013 will see expanded content including two Peak Performance Project stages, programming by Arrival Agency and offers guests the opportunity to connect and interact with our entertainers, sponsors, merchants and community both before and during the festival.

Come and join us for another stellar celebration of Vancouver’s amazing music and arts scene.

Make Music Vancouver Festival – Friday June 21st, 2013

What is Make Music Vancouver?

Make Music Vancouver is an entirely free live music event that brings the local community together on June 21st, the first day of summer. On Make Music day, Water Street is shut down to traffic and is transformed into sidewalk stages and dance floors, showcasing Vancouver’s incredible cultural and artistic diversity.

This grassroots event is being made possible entirely by volunteers, from organizers to performers. It showcases hundreds of amateur and established musicians, and celebrates music in all its diversity.

The first-ever edition was a resounding success, bringing 150 bands and 20 000 spectators to the streets of Gastown on June 21st 2011.

Make Music Vancouver was inspired by La Fête de la Musique, an event launched in France in 1982, and has since gone global, taking place each year on June 21st in over 450 cities worldwide today.

It is being organized by Vancouver en Français and the Alliance Française de Vancouver, both non-profit cultural associations, with the support of the Gastown BIA.
